During their summer research residency at Art Licks, artists Anna Hughes & Adam Shield collaborated on gathering material to create new sonic and sculptural works.
Drawing on their shared interest in ancient sites and concepts of time and landscape, they took field recordings as well as composing instrumental and vocal layers, making Art Licks a base for an impromptu recording studio.
Visits to historical ruins, standing stones and local walks were explored as well as research into Moorland plant lore and histories from the local landscape. These were channelled into their evolving ambient soundscape and concepts for related sculptural works.
